This comes from Mark 10:17-22 and Luke 18:18-27.  I always loved how the Mark version says Jesus looked at this rich young ruler and loved him.  Jesus knew what He was asking of him, but He did it because it was the one thing standing in his way.  I hope this young man changed his mind at some point – Jesus told his disciples only a few moments later nothing was impossible with God.  So there is hope….
